One of the largest epidemics of the United states of America, is poverty and homelessness. Part of our American dream is accomplishment through hard work and determination, but not everybody is given these kinds of opportunities that allow them to succeed. People have disabilities and medical conditions that keep them from an education or being able to receive fair treatment.
In the idea of our American dream, for the most part, is that everyone is equal, and if they dont succeed, it should be their fault. It's an ideal that has been around for centuries, the independence granted gave us the spur to push forward, and a mentality that states "If we can do it, then you can too!". For some, it worked, there are some notable people that stuck to this mentality and succeeded! For example, Bill Gates, Henry Ford, Nikola Tesla, Steve Jobs, the list goes on. However, most people do not talk about those that have followed this mentality and failed. The TED talk discusses the idea of going around and helping one another, offering work and meals. By this notion, he declares it incredibly successful, and one can infer that this is what the American dream is SUPPOSED to be. By working together and uniting with one another through the struggles and tribulation, we can succeed as a nation.
